SEAS Faculty Among "Highly Cited Researchers" list; Prof. Elimelech Listed Twice

Six SEAS faculty members are listed in this year’s roundup of the Web of Science Group’s compilation of “Highly Cited Researchers.” Among them is Menachem Elimelech, who’s appears on the list for two different fields - rare feat among the 6,200 researchers on the list.

The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company, compiles the list by drawing on the data and analysis performed by its bibliometric experts. The rankings identify researchers worldwide who published the most papers over a recent 11-year period and rank in the top 1 percent of total citations in their field.

Elimelech, the Roberto C. Goizueta Professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, was listed in the category of Chemistry as well as that of Environment/Ecology. Elimelech is one of the world's leading researchers in the field of membrane-based processes for sustainable fresh water and energy production. He also serves as co-principal investigator and lead researcher for the membrane processes research for Nanotechnology Enabled Water Treatment Systems center (NEWT).

Other SEAS faculty on the list include Fengnian Xia, the Barton L. Weller Associate Professor in Engineering and Science; Judy Cha, the Carol and Douglas Melamed Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science; Nicholas Christakis, the Sterling Professor of Social and Natural Science, Internal Medicine & Biomedical Engineering; Michelle Bell, the Mary E. Pinchot Professor of Environmental Health, School of Public Health & Chemical & Environmental Engineering; and Mark Gerstein, the Albert L. Williams Professor of Biomedical Informatics & Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry & Computer Science.
