Osuji, Tang Awarded Greer Memorial Prize

Chinedum Osuji, assistant professor of chemical & environmental engineering, and Hong Tang, associate professor of electrical engineering, have been selected as a 2010 recipient of Yale College’s Arthur Greer Memorial Prize for Outstanding Publication or Research. The Greer Prize is awarded annually to one or two junior faculty members from the natural or social sciences at Yale, and is one of Yale College’s highest honors.

Osuji's interests are centered on the physics and physical chemistry of soft matter - studying and elucidating self-assembly and basic structure-property relationships of colloids, liquid crystals, polymers and biological materials. The Greer Prize will provide funding to support Osuji’s research.

Tang's research interests are focused on nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS), classical and quantum optomechanics, integrated quantum optics, and microfluidics embedded nanosensor development.

The prize was established in 1987 by alumni of the Book and Snake Society to honor Arthur Greer '26S, an active and devoted alumnus of Yale and Book and Snake until his death in 1981.
