Jay Humphrey Selected as IAMBE Fellow

05/22/2019

Jay Humphrey, the John C. Malone Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Chair, has been elected to its 2019 Class of Fellows of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE).

Humphrey is among 24 Fellows to be inducted at a special session, in conjunction with the Carnegie Mellon Forum on Biomedical Engineering on September 20, 2019 in Pittsburgh, PA.

The IAMBE Fellows are nominated by current Fellows, evaluated by the membership committee, and elected by active Fellows. The election to the Academy is in recognition of a colleague's distinguished contributions to and leadership in the field of medical and biological engineering in an international level.

Here’s an excerpt from the IAMBE’s nomination for Humphrey:

"Humphrey's work remains highly multi-disciplinary and over the last four years he has delivered, for example, Plenary Lectures at diverse international conferences that include the 9th European Solid Mechanics Conference (2015 – Madrid), Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (2016 – Paris), TERATEC-High Performance Computing Forum held at École Polytechnique (2017 – Paris), and the 8th World Congress of Biomechanics (2018 – Dublin). He also received an honorary doctorate, Honoris Causa, at École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de St. Étienne (2017 - France) in recognition of the international impact of his work."
