Departments: Computer Science

In the course Theory and Implementation of Self-Driving Cars, students learn machine learning and computer vision techniques for lane following, traffic sign detection, and obstacle avoidance. Taught by Man-Ki Yoon, associate research scientist in Computer Science, the course explores the theory and practice of building self-driving cars using advanced computing technologies.

Over the course of the semester, students work in small groups to design and build miniaturized self-driving cars that autonomously navigate an indoor track that resembles real road environments. In this time-lapse video, students demonstrate the skills they learned through the final driving showcase and semester-long group projects.
