Morris Named a Visiting Scholar at The Hastings Center

03/18/2019

Evan D. Morris, professor of radiology and biomedical imaging, biomedical engineering, and psychiatry, has been named a "Visiting Scholar" at The Hastings Center.

Morris will spend time this summer at The Hastings Center in Garrison, NY writing about the ethics of neuroimaging and will have the chance to discuss his work with the resident staff and other visiting scholars. The subject matter that Morris will be writing on emerges from new material he developed for Responsible Conduct of Research (ENAS 508), a course he has taught to biomedical engineering graduate students since 2015.

Founded in 1969, The Hastings Center was important in establishing the field of bioethics. It is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of research scholars from multiple disciplines, including philosophy, law, political science, and education. The Center's team also includes staff members with expertise in communications, publishing, and finance and a worldwide network of elected Fellows, an active board, and an advisory council. The Hastings Center and its scholars produce books, articles, and other publications on ethical questions in medicine, science, and technology that help inform policy, practice, and public understanding.
