Making Spaces (ENAS410/ARCH390) Presentations on WED DEC 13 5:00-6:30 PM - Dunham 220, 10 Hillhouse Avenue:

Making Spaces in the Smithsonian's Art and Industries Building - In partnership with the Smithsonian Institute, students of Making Spaces explored the next chapter of the Arts and Industries Building (AIB). Located on the National Mall, the AIB was America's first National Museum. Since opening in 1881 it has showcased some of America's greatest innovations, from Edison's light bulb to Bell's telephone. Having lain dormant for more than a decade, the building is in the process of being reimagined as a place which celebrates the future over the past, and experiences over artifacts. The students of Making Spaces, a course jointly listed in Engineering and Architecture, will present their work, ideas, and innovations for a space that will inspire visitors to embrace, question, and imagine the future.
