Introduction to Engineering Innovation & Design (ENAS 118) presentations on WED DEC 13 9:25-10:15 in the CEID:

Athlete Reaction Time Trainer - Coaches from Yale's lacrosse team and ENAS 118 students to create a training aid that improves the reaction time of lacrosse players (as well as other Yale athletes). The device challenges athletes to react to a dynamic environment by responding to rapid stimulations. A series of programmed challenges have been embedded in the product to improve the performance of Yale athletes.

Yale Divinity School Child Care Hygiene - The director of the child care center located at the Divinity School partnered with a group of students to respond to new hand washing procedures established by a national accrediting organization. The simple and creative microprocessor-driven design allows the young users and their teachers to easily monitor the stages and times involved in keeping many little hands clean, many times during the day.

David's Ankles - A new ENAS course "The Material Science of Art" is being offered next semester to examine the engineering fundamentals of art, including paintings and sculptures. The course instructors worked with a team of CEID students to create a lab for the new course that examines recent cracks that have appeared in the ankles of Michelangelo's sculpture "David." The device loads and measures the resulting forces on models of this sculpture, doing so to identify the ultimate failure point of the specimens.
