Vanderlick named to second term as dean of engineering school

T. Kyle Vanderlick has been reappointed as dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science for a second term that runs through Dec. 31, 2017.

“We join enthusiastically in the praise offered by many members of the faculty for Dean Vanderlick’s efforts to build a strong culture of engineering at Yale, and to strengthen and make more attractive our undergraduate and graduate programs,” said President Richard Levin and President-elect Peter Salovey in a joint announcement.

They continued: “The creation of the Yale Center for Engineering Innovation and Design has especially enhanced the opportunities for our students, and we are pleased to see that it is already establishing itself as a home for student engagement with design and entrepreneurship. Dean Vanderlick has been a strong and forceful advocate for engineering at Yale, and she has helped us to attract substantial funding that will make possible the planned growth of the school. … This is an exciting time for engineering and applied science at Yale, and we look forward to the next steps under Dean Vanderlick’s leadership.”

Vanderlick was first appointed dean in 2007. She previously was professor and chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Princeton University.
